An infographic unravels a complex relationship

An infographic unravels a complex relationship

Case:

EuroGoos (European Global Ocean Observing System) wanted to find a clear and simple way to explain the relationship between Copernicus Marine Service, data aggregators, and the overall flow of marine data collection. The story starts with the compiled marine data, moves to the aggregators and service providers who are middlemen working with the data, and finishes with end users that receive the processed information. Visuality was enlisted to help make the connections between all the actors clear and the information consumable for the public.

Process:

We kicked off with an intense co-creation session: for half a day, two visualizers worked with the clients on our whiteboard, drafting out connections, challenging each other to make sure the story would make sense to their audience, and validating the it on-the-spot with the client.

Then, we took the information from that session and made rough drafts of the information structure. When that was clear, we continued to make subsequent revisions, refining and verifying with the client until the story was complete.

Result:

We delivered a well-designed infographic handout for communication purposes that helps strengthen their story by showing their relevance and contributions to a very complex relationship.
