Choosing Whiteboards for your office
What is a Whiteboard and why do we use it?
BACKGROUND: As Visual Storytellers we need a big space to express our thoughts, host co-creations sessions with our clients or just note down new ideas or solutions. A whiteboard is the perfect tool for that. You practically paste it on the wall! And that, without the trouble of having to carry heavy stuff or drilling holes in your precious wall. If you get sick of it, you basically remove it in 5 minutes.
In this post we would like to present you 2 types of Whiteboards we have used so far and how we rate them in terms of: price, quality, user-friendliness and the installation steps.
TECHNICAL DETAILS: We are using the Writey Board in Matte White, size 4x6 (feet), 2 boards.
looks great after attaching to the wall
very good quality
price is affordable
the cloth that comes with it makes it super easy to press out the bubbles
Extra: you can project your screen on it with a projector!
there is no information about the size on the package (would be handy for measurements)
it’s quite heavy
It does not take minutes, more like an hour :)
The instruction video makes it seem very easy to apply, although it is not that simple. The board looks very nice on the wall and there are practically no bubbles left after peeling off the adhesive cover.
SOLUTION: Make sure you measure first where you want to hang the Writey Board, so that it hangs straight & fits on the surface. Especially if you choose a big size and try to fit two boards next to each other. Better apply the Writey board with 2 persons.
TIP: after attaching the Writey Board to the wall, cover the edges with tape, to indicate the edges. Otherwise you’ll end up with a dirty wall.
We recommend this board!
TECHNICAL DETAILS: We were using the Zelfklevende whiteboardfolie, size 100x200, 2 boards.
Easy to use
drawing is okay the first rounds
it get’s really dirty, real quickly
difficult to wash of the markers stains
quality not satisfying
no cloth to push out the bubbles during installation
you have to cover the edges with tape, otherwise your wall will get dirty
All in all this board is ok, although the quality is not as good as the Writey Board in our opinion. Both boards are relatively easy to attach on the wall and serve your visual purposes.
If you decide to buy a Whiteboard make sure you choose the right markers to draw on it. We, as Neuland Ambassadors can only recommend the Neuland No.One® WhiteboardMarker which have an outstanding quality.
When removing the old board (see picture below) make sure to tape the sides, so you will place the new board in a straight position. As you can see, the ink went over the edges, so remember to always secure the edges around the board with basic tape.
