Interactive guide to low-energy buildings
Working together with the sustainable energy consulting company 3E and copywriting firm Schrijf.be, Visuality created an interactive, user-centered guide for the construction of low-energy buildings for the Flemish governmental energy agency, VEA.
Visuality employed information design techniques to distinguish the end user in order to produce a relevant, user-friendly manual understandable to laypersons. Visuality overcame the main challenge of translating technical trade knowledge into practical and readable text (including ‘BEN checks’) and clear, simple drawings, in a manner consistent with industry standards.
Keeping to Visuality’s user-centered values, they designed the manual for non-chronological use. This function allows the builder to click on any phase in the manual and immediately access information suited to their individual project.
The final product: a dynamic and highly functional electronic guide with current energy standards for the construction of new buildings in Belgium, linked to EU standards.
